Kathmandu, Nepal: Boudhanath

The omnipresent Buddha eyes on all four sides

The Boudhanath Stupa is another UNESCO site in Kathmandu valley, (other names include Boudha, Bouddhanath or Baudhanath or the Khāsa Caitya, Khāsti in Nepal Bhasa, Jyarung Khasyor in Tamang language or Bauddha in Nepali). The Buddhist stupa's massive mandala makes it one of the largest spherical stupas in Nepal.

Remember to walk around the stupa in a clockwise direction and also to spin the prayer wheels clockwise. There is a small entry fee (rps 150) to enter the stupa area.

  1. Very nice series of images. This spot brings back memories of lots of beautiful pray flags and Visa and Master Card accepted stickers on the doors leading to shops around the stupa.
