Singapore: ArtScience Museum (The Art of the Brick & Essential Eames)

I featured the Dinosaurs: Dawn to Extinction previously. Here are two "Art-y" exhibitions that put the "Art" in the ArtScience Museum.

Lego started off being a toy "just for kids" but it's amazing how it has spun theme parks, a movie (Put your hand up if you agree that The Lego Movie was GOOD!), and even Art! They no longer attract just  kids, but also those young at heart, kids who practically grew with Lego. (Much like loom bands?)

Essential Eames: A Herman Miller Exhibition

Anyone can design, but not everyone can design well! This is a tribute to the designer couple (all pun intended) with drool-worthy works of art.

Sets you thinking: Do iconic works make iconic people? Or do iconic people make iconic works? Can you detach yourself from your work?

Singapore: ArtScience Museum (Dinosaurs: Dawn to Extinction)

The ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands, unlike typical museums, has a modest permanent collection. Instead, it focuses more on bringing top-notch "touring" exhibitions to the shores of Singapore for a limited time.

I've had the privilege of catching these exhibitions for work or during the Educators' Preview:
- Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition (no photography allowed)
- Mummy: Secrets of the Tomb (no photography allowed)
- Dinosaurs: Dawn to Extinction
- The Art of the Brick
- Essential Eames: A Herman Miller Exhibition

Dinosaurs: Dawn to Extinction

I love how hands-on this exhibition can be for the replicas (which wasn't easy to replicate at all). Real fossils are wisely kept in clear cases. The collaboration between artists and archaeologists also breaks out of the mold of regular exhibitions.

There's a very interesting story behind why the dinosaur in the foreground is painted as such. Visit the exhibition to find out.
