Slow down and enjoy the laid-back charm of Pokhara's Phewa Lake
Pokhara is 200 km west of Kathmandu, and is the base for treks to the Annapurna region. The freshwater Phewa (or Fewa) Lake in the city is the second largest lake in Nepal. Take a boat ride out to the island temple of Barahi in the middle of the lake, or to view the Annapurna mountain ranges (just 28 km away) reflected in the water at sun rise.
Leaving Kathmandu for the next leg of our adventure,
A drive not for the faint-hearted.
Not only are the roads winding,
Huge trucks and tour buses ply the route.
Stop for some nourishment,
Cuddle a little too.
Soon, you'd reach your humble abode,
Before you take to the roads.
As you wander around Pokhara,
not only are there dogs,
but horses,
and camels too.
And you'd finally see some beauties,
and study them up close.
Enjoy a game,
Laze by the Lake,
Hop on a boat,
Or two.
But there's more to do
Along the lake,
Would you like some soup,
and more Momos for you two?
Have a drink by candle light,
How else to pass the lonely night,
And kill them jitters alright?
