Hualien, Taiwan - Taroko Gorge

Taroko is an engineering marvel by nature and an engineering feat by man.
I first saw Taroko on the Korean drama, 'ON AIR', and I decided there and then, that I really had to see if for myself, rockfalls or not.

The rock formation is already so awe-inspiring and humans risking life and limb to cut through the rocks is epic, albeit crazy. Taroko was also the place where there's a hidden gem of a natural hotspring (very hot) off the well-trodden path (many stairs), and where I was 'ambushed' by our soon-to-be-elected Head Prefect (the world is beautiful, and, small) and had my 1-second of fame. Accidents still do happen, so we had a 'heads up' with helmets, and our driver was generally slow at most parts, and fast at possible landmines (more like rockfall areas).

A hearty breakfast of Xiao Long Bao (more like Mega Long Bao) to kickstart the hike and piping hot fishballs to starve off the cold to conclude the hike

Letting pictures do the talking. Are you convinced that Taroko is amazing?
