Taiwan has manymanymany night markets (in Taipei itself their Shilin and Shida) and I usually don't take pictures because: 1. it's too crowded 2. I'm busy eating and shopping (mostly eating). Well, this is dedicated to Rueifang (at Kaoshiung Arena Station) because: 1. it's not commonly recommended in guidebooks or brochures 2. hidden gem recommended by hostel owner 3. I love it, especially the retro games! (the reason why I'd go back) 4. there's nothing much else to do at night around Kaoshiung 5. it's better than the other (forgettable) night market recommended.
Here's an introduction of the games they have:
1. Mahjong Tile Game (Honestly haven't figured how to play this yet)
2. Toss the Loop (buy a stick of loops, toss them to win ANYTHING - incl alcoholic drinks and overseas trips)
Eagle eyes
The Pretty Toys, can't imagine them setting this up everyday
Toss 'em
Professional Game Master
How much? This much.
3. Burst It! (Using 1. Guns 2. Darts)
4. Complex game (so named because it involves dice and a very complicated contraption)
Step 1: Watch
Step 2: Eureka - I wanna try too!
Step 3: Bet
Step 4: Hit and dart falls on spinning wheel - tally with bet
Step 5: Did I win?
P.S. The little girl is really a sweetheart!
5. 'Bowling' - Ball Games
6. Fishing
7. Tarot
8. Bingo (with slips of paper (non-recyclable) or wooden block (recyclable)
9. Regular Arcade
10. Mystery Gift
And they sell everything (including regular street snacks not featured)
And of course, clothed dogs.
