To learn about the history of Taiwan, watch The Soong Sisters! Basically founding Kuo Min Tang leaders, namely Chiang Kai Shek and Sun Yat Sen, briefly led China before fleeing in the face of communists to Taiwan. So manymanymany things are named after them (important roads) and Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall is one of them. The monument, modelled after Tiantan in Beijing, is surrounded by a park, and stands at the east end of Memorial Hall Square, flanked by the National Theater and National Concert Hall. Accessible via MTR and walk. Eslite bookshop in National Theatre (or maybe Concert Hall?).
Several levels
CKS is huge

Museum downstairs
Charming at night too
Hung out at night market (probably Shida)
Yang Ming Shan is one of the nearest National Parks (of 8) from Taipei and once you step in the Sulphur smell hits you. Took a bus up, then transfer to the Tourist Bus (hop on-off option available) but I was warned it was too foggy (and raining) to see anything so I just took a joyride loop around the mountain. Not many regrets, it was really cold! Maple leaves and trees were pretty though. I walked one stop because the bus had its own timing, the walk was really long!!
Finally reached the visitor's centre
How it should look

What I saw
Tamsui Old Street - Took me really long to find this place because I decided to walk one long round around it. Best tip - follow the crowd.
