Take the plunge and have a taste of Smelly Tofu.
These are shots of some of the food we had in Taiwan back in June last year, almost 100 of them. Well, most of the photo that we bothered to photograph that is.
Taipei
At Ah Zong in Ximending,
We had Ah Zong Mian Xian.
Then some mochi on a stick.
At Prince Cheese Potato in Ximending,
We had...
Club and Cheese.
At Shida Night Market, we had buns,
Oyster Omelette,
And Papaya Milk Shake.
At Huashan Market,
We queued,
And queued,
And queued,
And saw people working,
very hard.
We had
somea lot of Fu Hang Dou Jiang-阜杭豆漿.
Outside of Taipei, in Pingxi, we had
Wait for it,
Pig Blood Cake (translated literally).
At Jiufen, at Auntie Ah Gan's,
We had Taro Balls,
Some grass jelly dessert,
And some fried and seasoned mushrooms.
Taipei
At Shilin Night Market,
We had Smelly Tofu.
Then
We had more Oyster Omelette.
At Cingjing Farm, we had MOS burger,
Omelette,
With some stir-fried vegetables with boar (mountain pig) meat
Which we packed back for supper.
Then we had breakfast at Villa Relax.
At Taichung's Chun Shui Tang Cultural Tea House (春水堂) at the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, we had Bubble Tea
And Carrot Cake.
Then Macdonald's for breakfast.
At Alishan, we had Tea,
which is an art,
and some cake too.
At a roadside stall, we had rice
and soup for dinner.
And croissant to last the sunrise.
At Kaoshiung's Dream Mall, we had a cool summer journey
at Starbucks.
And some Chinese food.
At Liuhe Market, we had a cutlet,
And our perennial favourite,
Fried mushrooms,
And more fried food,
Like crinkle-cut truffle fries,
Downed with more papaya milkshake
On Cijin Island, we had seafood at 100 NT per plate.
So we had really little crab,
Lala Clams,
and Silver Fish (More batter than fish).
Then we tested our Chinese
At a dessert place near the jetty.
And we indulged in some shaved ice dessert to combat the humidity.
Then some local fast food.
At Ruifang Night Market
We had prawns,
Fried Food,
Bag of mixed food,
Egg Waffles,
And Chicken Feet
(they're not mine).
At a local breakfast eatery or deli,
(I love the local breakfast!)
I had a crusty sandwich.
Back in Taipei, at Ootoya at the Taipei Train Station.
We had rice
And chicken.
Then at Danshui, I had takoyaki
And drum roll please,
The best assorted fried mushrooms in the whole of Taiwan (in part because I was starving).
At a random noodle place, we had wanton noodles, which was pretty good.
Then had pineapple cake-tasting at Chia Te Bakery.
I am also queen of junk food, whether it is freshly-made prawn crackers (from Jiufen),
Processed food (at Cingjing Farm),
Expanded snacks (at Alishan),
Or fish crackers (all the way north of Taipei, at Tamsui).
Never. Go. Hungry. In. Taiwan.

ReplyDeleteThis is the most delicious post I've ever seen! I'll be in Taiwan soon, so I'll definitely make a note to try all these yummy treats!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sylvia for dropping by! Taiwan has more to offer than in my post, so eat on! Have a good trip!
ReplyDeleteWow, my first comment in Chinese! I didn't try the pig's blood, my friend did. But yes we shared the smelly tofu, which is bad only if you don't eat any! Hmm... you are vegetarian but you had snake soup? Okay will bear your recommendation in mind! Thanks!
