Kobe, Japan: Kobe Animal Kingdom

Kobe

SUPER FUN.

They have common animals like cats, but it's highly recommended if you are curious about and want to get really close to rarer animals like CAPYBARAS and ALPACAS. This was also the first time I've seen a CAPE (or ROCK) HYRAX. I never even knew they exist but they are so cute (decide for yourself!)!

ALPACAS
You can find them at the entrance (with a keeper), outside and on walks (to say goodbye to parkgoers),

For them, you can buy feed to bribe them over. But they can get picky!

CAPYBARAS and Mousedeers
I actually thought the mousedeers were young capybaras - they do look alike don't they? They do get along so well.

Honestly, I've seen worse zoos in Japan and the animals and staff do look happy living and working here (I saw negative reviews on Tripadvisor). The staff here do enjoy what they do and take pride in their work. Here's a hardworking gardener, don't overlook the landscaping.

After the onsens at Arima, I rushed over to the Animal Kingdom and granted I didn't have much time to slowly indulge. But the upside to staying until closing is that the park is clearly less crowded (maybe it was also a school day), also I had an alpaca say goodbye to me.

Bye Kobe Bay - BRB.
